Scalehectic was first opened in May 2005 by 3 fanatical slot car racing enthusiasts. It was decided at that time that although previously, we were running a private club, it should be opened in a retail premises and available to the public for the first time. Unfortunately during the first year and perhaps because of the lack of advertising or rather funds available to advertise the response was not as good as anticipated and thus public opening times were limited to weekends, with other venues in the week  for club members and private parties.

The track was custom built for the premises by ourselves and is over 140 foot in length with 6 lanes and 4 chicane areas. The braiding on the track is non magnetic so some of those heavily magnetic cars that stick like glue on your Scalextric track will now need a lot more skill to get around quickly. Today the shop is still running strong and is attracting members of the public as well as frequent private parties for groups of all ages. In addition to the 2 evenings a week for club members for racing we now have once a month a serious Saturday session of endurance and team racing events.
 

We now have in the region of 20 members from all age brackets, male and female, and are hoping this will continue increasing over this year. Our Tuesday evenings are organised racing events and Thursday evening are more informal for test sessions, some racing and an opportunity for those considering becoming members to come along and see what it is all about. The club is run by the members and we are always open to new suggestions as well as striving to make it as informal and friendly as possible. Private parties can be scheduled for almost any time during the week or evenings and can be for adults or for children as young as 6 years old. No previous experience is necessary nor do you need any of your own cars as they are supplied by us. These are particularly popular for birthday parties. We can accommodate up to 12 persons easily and all scoring and results are computerised for the event with an overall winner for the event.
 

In addition to renting track time we are now offering for sale an array of new and used cars as well as spares and we will purchase or take on consignment customers cars. Drinks and refreshments are available from our refrigerators.
